From Ordinary to Extraordinary….

From time to time, Rachel and I like to play around with taking pictures of each other (you’ve seen me featured many times on this blog). Some of our recent thoughts have been about using the ordinary locations that we see every day and using them through our photography to make them appear so much different. Tonight, we thought we’d use our house. I thought it was kind of cool to see what the scene looks like in our everyday lives (messy tables and everything) and then showing the result once we got a little funky with it. Since Rachel has been the one taking pictures of me lately, I thought it was her turn to play model for a little bit. I have it easy since she’s so beautiful too…

Here we have our dining room table along with the messy tables I already mentioned! I decided to kill all the lights and light some of our candles for the following shots…

The dramatic shadows really make this image look moody. Of course, Rachel has great expressions to match! On to the next set…

Probably everyone who has had consult with us recognizes this place as our living room. I thought of doing something different with the TV and made a quick slideshow to help me out. Here’s the result:

Never thought when I was buying that tv at 6am the day after Thanksgiving that I’d be using it for shooting. Hmmm… Here’s the last one!

The last one was Rachel’s idea. This is our little bathroom with canned recessed lighting in the ceiling. I grabbed a black sheet and threw it over the door to take away the distraction of the door paneling. The only light source came from a single overhead light can. I think these are my favorite…

It’s always fun putting a twist on ordinary, everyday locations and turning them into something awesome! Thanks go to my beautiful wife who made this shoot possible!
