Back on September 25th we spent our Friday with Joanna and Dan and family friends in Mentor for their big day. The ceremony and reception were held at La Malfa on what turned out to be a gorgeous early fall afternoon. Eventhough we didn’t have a ton of creative time with these guys, we still came away with some really beautiful images! Joanna and Dan opted for a first glance (at the last minute!), which always provides for a really emotional and fun sequence of images. La Malfa did an outstanding job as usual, and we were lucky to work with John from the DJ Crew, who kept the dancing going well into the night. We actually shot an after session with Joanna and Dan about a week ago which was phenmonal, so be sure to look for them again on the blog in the next couple of weeks. Onto the images…

Rachel and I LOVE LOVE doing First Glances for a lot of different reasons. Aside from the photography aspect, its what we choose for our own wedding and we wouldn’t have done it any other way!

Probably my favorite image of the day. Love it!

Although we normally post all of our sessions on the blog in chronolgical order, we are breaking that rule for Jessica and Brandon (hey, we make the rules so we are allowed to break them now and then)! We shoot their engagement session a few weeks back, and since they are tying the knot this Saturday, we decided to green light their post to the front of the line. We first met Jessica back a few years ago at a bridal show where she was working in a booth right beside us. Fast forward a few years later, and we are getting ready to capture her and Brandon’s beautiful wedding! Rachel and I really had fun walking the streets of Cleveland with these guys, and we were excited to try out some new locations we’d recently scouted. Jessica and Brandon had no trouble whatsoever rocking out the poses, and we can tell that Saturday is going to rock out bigtime! Check out the previews…

I learned that these are actually grape leaves and not ivy, which makes me feel that the public school system failed me in certain areas…

The leaves weren’t quite turning colors yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t rock out the color anyways!

A few weeks ago, we spent a beautiful September day with Jason and Ashley.  The weather was beautiful, the people were awesome, and Jason and Ashley kept us excited all day long!  The ceremony was held in Ashley’s parents’ back yard and was sweet and intimate.  I love the kind of weddings where the bride and groom feel comfortable enough to burst out laughing at all points of the day - including the ceremony!  On top of that, the bridal party danced back down the aisle!  How fun is that?!  What a great day!  Check it out!

It seems it was just yesterday that we were downtown shooting Nick and Niki’s engagement session, and here we are a month after their wedding! We had definitely been looking forward to their big day, and these guys have been awesome clients to work with! We had an absolutely gorgeous late summer day on September 12th, and everything really came into place for a great day all around. We headed downtown to a few spots we hadn’t been in  a while, and it was fun finding some new angles and perspectives to play around with. These guys were game for anything, and I think we really came away with some awesome images! I know Niki has been stalking the blog for quite a while for this post, so let’s not waste anymore time!

We met up with Bryan and Melissa back in September to shoot their engagement session near the Metroparks system in Hinckley, Ohio. We got heavily rained out the first time we tried for their session so we were happy to see blue skies the morning for the second try!  Melissa and Bryan were well worth the wait!  These two are recently engaged and you can tell!  They are sweet and funny and quirky together.  They have a great personality as a couple and as soon as you meet them, you can tell that you could talk to them for hours!  Check them out!

September 5th found us spending the day with Kelly & Eddie.  I don’t know if I’ve ever met a couple exactly like these two!  They are so alike and yet so different - it’s a perfect example of what we like to call the “perfect” wedding couple.  To go along with that, they had a perfect wedding day - beautiful weather, amazing people, and a DYNAMITE schedule.  Way to make your photographers love you!  There wasn’t one second that we felt out of place or a bother to them.  Here are the results of all the above:

I don’t have to tell you that we love doing formals outside when at all possible! It makes for more intimate portraits of the families, let’s everyone be a little more relaxed, and we’re able to take advantage of beautiful natural light!

We can’t stress enough how scheduling really has an impact on the photography aspect of your day. Having a generous amount of time to spend with the bride and groom alone, as well as the rest of the bridal party, allows Ted and I to really create beautiful and artistic images of a day that will only come once! We had about 3 hours with these guys following their ceremony, and we were loving every minute of it!

We’ve been known to put some of our grooms and groomsmen to work on certain occasions…

Rachel and I have been wanting to shoot at Stan Hywet for some time now, and when Samantha mentioned she wanted to do her and Kyle’s engagement portraits there, we were happy to hear the news! I think I’d been there last about 10 years ago or so, and it was Rachel’s first time,  so it was cool revisiting this amazingly beautiful property. We had another picture perfect late summer day, not a cloud in the sky, and we pretty much had the grounds to ourselves (after we successfully convinced the grounds lady that we in fact had the location reserved)! Samantha and Kyle are an extremely easy couple to photograph, and despite the fact that I’m not a huge fan of sushi,  I still like them a whole lot! We are most definitely looking forward to their wedding day this coming May. Here’s a sampling from their session…

We met up with Emily and Josh to shoot their e-session on yet another beautiful late summer afternoon last month. The thing we love about couples like Josh and Emily is how excited they are about their photography! Emily mentioned she had been stalking the blog looking for the perfect spot for their engagement session, and it turned out Hinckley was the perfect place! These guys defintiely have a fun and laid back relationship, and it seemed everytime we got our cameras up they were cracking up about something (it was either that or my lame jokes)! I know she’s been eagerly awaiting these previews, so here they are!
