Ashley & Jason’s Engagement Session…

I know I know - we are so behind on the blog it’s ridiculous!  We officially apologize and hope to get caught up this week.  We have so much new stuff to put up on here that it’s ridiculous, so keep posted for everything!

A couple weeks ago, we met up with Ashley and Jason, who take the prize as being one of the most interesting and fun couples we have!  Ashley is an entomologist and has been known to ask for bugs as presents from Jason!  It’s hard to think about Jason giving Ashley a bug though when they’re together - they are silly, they’re adorable, they’re fun - they have a great relationship and I feel honored to be able to document just a part of that for their big day coming up in September!

Connie & Andrew’s Wedding!

A couple Saturdays ago, we fell in love with Connie and Andrew yet again on their wedding day.  It didn’t matter that the sky had huge, dark, threatening clouds pretty much all day - the sun was shining in our world!  Connie and Andrew went out of their way every second of their day to prove to us how committed they were to getting amazing imagery!  I was constantly amazed all day about how focused they were on each other instead of all the million little things that can usually distract a couple.  They are the kind of people that are an absolute pleasure to be around 100% of the time and we feel lucky to have had them as clients!  Big time shout out to our good friend Kate for assisting us that day - it is so nice to have one more set of arms to carry stuff!  Now on to the reason we’re all here:

scharf_wed_01

She somehow manages to look like a model putting on a dress!

scharf_wed_02

Oh, I forgot to mention too that Connie and Andrew just moved into a brand new beautiful new house that had walls painted just for us! I can’t get over her beautiful smile! And check out those eyes!

scharf_wed_03

And they had this sliding glass door put in just for this shot…

scharf_wed_04

Now over to Andrew!

scharf_wed_05

Andrew is, in my opinion, the closest living body double for Jake Gyllenhaal.  Well Andrew, if your current profession ever doesn’t work out - you can have a back up career as a body double!

scharf_wed_06

There is no way that Jake is as nice as Andrew though.

scharf_wed_07

Ted showed his commitment to window light by removing almost every piece of furniture from this room!  Doesn’t Andrew work that serious look?

scharf_wed_08

This sky may of made us nervous, but it also made for a pretty cool sky shot!

scharf_wed_09

This part was kind of important too!

scharf_wed_10

scharf_wed_11

Loved the doorway to the church, even though we got yelled at for talking too loudly!

scharf_wed_12

Since Andrew couldn’t quite convince me that he wanted to try to get away from Connie, I picked this one!

scharf_wed_13

We barely dodged the rain downtown long enough to go to a couple more locations…

scharf_wed_14

scharf_wed_15

We have decided that the black and white dresses with a pink accent could quite possibly be our favorite combination ever!

scharf_wed_16

I love working with the girls!  Wedding day always brings out the best in everyone!

scharf_wed_17

The boys channeling their handsome sides…

scharf_wed_18

More and more, Ted and I are fixated on hands and the power they have in an image.  It’s such an easy thing to tell a groom to keep his hands on his new and gorgeous wife, but it’s a home run when that wife can’t keep her hands off her man!  Look at what this image says and tell me its not from Connie’s hand twisted up on Andrew’s head!

scharf_wed_19

One of the most important details I’ve ever photographed.

scharf_wed_20

On one of our more recent photo scouting locations, Ted and I came upon a super cool bridge with all of this aged wood lining it.  Props to one of the best brides you could dream up  - since it was kind of dirty, we were a little worried about Connie getting her dress dirty.  Her response to the location was, “Where do you want me?”

scharf_wed_21

So this sign got the immediate reaction from everyone involved of “That’s what she said!” lol

scharf_wed_22

Lots of good angles under a bridge!

scharf_wed_23

Credit for this spot goes to our bride and groom!  Love the graffiti which has since been erased!

scharf_wed_24

The pattern continued through to the reception!

scharf_wed_25

A sweet first dance…

scharf_wed_26

It seems like we’ve been at La Vera every other weekend this whole summer!  Selective Sound is one of our favorite DJ’s and provided the entertainment for the evening…

scharf_wed_27

I’d say JR did a good job!

scharf_wed_28

The great thing about this time at La Vera was that the other dining hall was not being used, so when it came time for the end of the night shot, naturally we wandered across the hall.  A HUGE thanks to Mary for letting us move tables, turn on crazy lights, and basically do whatever we wanted!

scharf_wed_29

The home run of the whole day: the pink lights against a mirror!

scharf_wed_30

*swoon* Favorite end of the night shot of the season!

scharf_wed_31

I can’t say enough good things about the two of you and your wedding day!  We love you so much and look forward to working with you in the future!

Joe & Jennifer’s Engagement!

I don’t even know what to say about Joe and Jennifer!  What a couple!  They were seriously made for each other and for the camera.  It didn’t matter what we suggested or did, these two owned it and had blast doing it!  It seemed everything they did was tailor-made for photos - Joe even has this amazing Mustang that they drove for a prop and  Jen wore shoes to match!  They are friends of one of our favorite couples from last year Molly & Jason, and we are so thrilled that we are the lucky ones that get to document their big day!  Their photos are already decorating our new viewing room, and now I have to put them up here to decorate the blog:

tenny_eng_01

Love those hands Jen!

tenny_eng_02

One of our new favorite places to shoot - I love the color and texture of this brick!

tenny_eng_03

It is also a perfect place to park a gorgeous Mustang…

tenny_eng_04

*Swoon*  Favorite:

tenny_eng_05

tenny_eng_06

Another new favorite place…

tenny_eng_07

You’d never be able to tell these flowers are smack dab in the middle of downtown Cleveland!

tenny_eng_08

I think Joe is in my top 3 coolest guys I know…

The Wedding of Annie and Justin…

A couple Saturdays ago, we met up with Annie and Justin on their bright and beautiful wedding day at Tom’s Country Place in Avon, Ohio.  Annie was one of the sweetest brides you could ever meet  - I don’t think there is a soul that couldn’t like her!  Justin’s a lucky guy to get her!  That Saturday was one of the only ones we can remember that didn’t have a cloud in the sky or threat of rain!  This worked out perfectly since we had an outdoor ceremony to photograph!

picco_wed_01

I love these polka dots!

picco_wed_02

I’m pretty much in love with this girl!

picco_wed_03

Justin isn’t a big fan of pictures of himself, but he put up with us!

picco_wed_04

Justin’s parents had a great piece of property, suited perfectly for some groomsmen shots!

picco_wed_05

We only had this limo for a minute so I had to make quick use of it!

picco_wed_06

She really is as sweet as she looks!

picco_wed_07

Justin was just “dying” to get in on the action!

Annie’s sister made a very sweet speech!

The Wedding of Megan & John…

A couple Fridays ago, Ted and I had the great treat of photographing the wedding of Megan and John.  As many of you know, I am not originally from Ohio, and Ted is, so often we find ourselves photographing people that Ted went to high school with or just knew from childhood.  I didn’t think this would ever happen for me being from South Carolina orginally, so I was thrilled to receive the phone call from Megan last year.  Megan and I attended Baldwin-Wallace College together and actually lived in the same dorm on campus!  I even met John once or twice back then too, so as soon as she called I couldn’t help myself but feel a bit of ownership about their wedding.  That day was another one of those pretend-to-rain-just-enough-to-make-you-feel-nervous, but it cleared up right when we came outside for photos!  I think Megan has someone looking out for her!  Other than that, the day was so fun and relaxed - Ted and I both felt like honored guests more than hired photographers.  One of the best things that I love about Megan and John’s relationship is that they are best friends first!  There are so many photos from their day that we captured them just looking at each other and cracking up.  I LOVE that kind of chemistry!  Also, at times they are completely the same, and other times they were perfectly opposite.  Check them out!

rudy_wed_01

This is my girl!

rudy_wed_02

John is kinda pretty too!

rudy_wed_03

Ted’s eye for details demonstrated here:

rudy_wed_04

Excited and nervous right before the walk down the aisle!

rudy_wed_05

Handmade veil by Megan’s aunt.

rudy_wed_06

Even though St Charles is on our neck of the woods, this was our first time there.  Gorgeous!

rudy_wed_07

Megan is quirky and adorable - I have no idea what she was laughing at here, but it’s a perfect example of their friendship!

rudy_wed_08

Photo ninja moment right after walking out of the ceremony!  “We’re married!!!”

rudy_wed_09

I’ve really been loving doing these shots of all the guests right after the bubbles.  It’s so easy and fast too!

rudy_wed_10

One of last year’s favorite locations turned out to be perfect for these two.  We just put them against this ivy and let them be themselves!

rudy_wed_11

rudy_wed_12

They have a perfect mixture of fun and sweet moments…

rudy_wed_13

I don’t care how much those groomsmen laughed, John has a pretty awesome serious face!

rudy_wed_14

I don’t know if Megan has an expression other than smiling happiness!  John is a lucky man!

rudy_wed_15

Mine and Ted’s new favorite color?  Yellow.

rudy_wed_16

I literally love these girls!

rudy_wed_17

All the guys busted out the GQ face for this one!  I think they rocked it!

rudy_wed_18

Best. moment. ever.  Already making an appearance on our wall:

rudy_wed_19

This is Ted’s favorite door:

rudy_wed_20

The reception was at Massimo’s in Cleveland.  I don’t what it is about this place, but we love it!

rudy_wed_21

First dance!

rudy_wed_22

Ted’s awesome eye found this one: (one of my favorite end of the night shots ever)

rudy_wed_23

I think I know why I love Massimo’s now!

rudy_wed_24

I positively adore this one last shot.  A perfect end to a perfect day!

rudy_wed_25

Thank you you gorgeous people!  We had an amazing time with you all day!  We wish you all the best!

Richard and Brantley’s Portrait Session

I know these guys have been eagerly waiting for this blog post, so I am thrilled to present (drum roll please) some images from Richard and Brantley’s downtown portrait session! Brantley and Richard are an awesomely (not sure if that’s a word) talented husband and wife photography team down in Columbia, South Carolina (be sure to check out their work by clicking here) who actually stumbled upon our blog back at the beginning of the year, and have been avid blog stalkers ever since! Brantley decided to shoot us out an e-mail a few months ago introducing herself, and asking about the possibility of us traveling down to Columbia to shoot a session for their two year anniversary this November. Low and behold, it turned out they’d end up being in the Cleveland area in July on business, so we decided to bump up our session a few months and show them around town a bit as well. They were quite incredible models in front of the camera, and we’ve all become  good friends since we  met up a few weeks ago. Not only are they amazing artists themselves, but its kind of scary just how much we all have in common with each other! Rachel and I will be traveling down to South Carolina to give a workshop for the South Carolina Professional Photographers Association this November, and we are really looking forward to seeing and spending some more time with Richard and Brantley during that time. Thanks again guys for allowing us the privilege of capturing your relationship through our lens. We feel tremendously blessed to call you friends!

free_port_01

Richard and Brantley allowed us to do whatever we wanted creatively, and we were thrilled to try out some new locations we’d scouted out.

free_port_02

There’s a ton of color downtown!

free_port_03

This idea has been on the books for quite a while, and I’m glad we were finally able to give it a try!

free_port_04

Brantley did have one request for her session: She wanted an awesome Linczak reflection shot! Sign, sealed, delivered!

free_port_05

Another one of our newer locations…

free_port_06

free_port_07

This is probably my favorite shot of the day!

free_port_08

One more!

free_port_09

You guys rocked it! We’re really looking forward to hanging out some more in a few months!

Rami and Mona’s E-Session

When Ted and I first met Mona and her mom a few months ago, we were pretty excited to hear about their big day coming up this December.   We felt an instant connection with Mona and as soon as we met Rami, we knew we were set!  They are so fun together and great in front of the camera!  All you have to do is say the word ‘laugh’ and Mona cracks up - which is exactly what we wanted her to do!  We started a little later in the evening and were able to take advantage of some cool sunset opportunities that we normally don’t have time for as well as get eaten by about a million mosquitoes.  All in a day’s work!  :)

ahmed_eng_01

They are so sweet together.  They both think they are the lucky one in the relationship.  I like that.

ahmed_eng_02

You gotta love Mona’s shoes!

ahmed_eng_03

Ted does an amazing tight rope act for this shot:

ahmed_eng_04

There’s that beautiful sunset light!

ahmed_eng_05

We hardly ever get the chance to use this time of day for photos, so this was very fun for us!

ahmed_eng_06

My favorite:

ahmed_eng_07

We’ve been proud of Cleveland as a place for photography for the past few weeks.  Mona & Rami wanted to incorporate the Rock Hall for a few - I love this take on it:
