Kristie & Joe’s After Session

A couple of days after their wedding, Rachel and I met Kristie and Joe out at Kristie’s Mom’s farm to shoot their after session. Kristie’s mom owns an absolutely breath taking piece of property, complete with beautiful fields, an awesome barn, plenty of animals, and even a huge lake in the back. It was pretty amazing, and it served as extremely well for the session! We focused mainly on Kristie for this session, but Joe was around and we definitely added him to a number of shots as well. We started in beautiful late afternoon light, which kept getting better as the evening went on. Here’s a sneak peak…

Kristie and Joe’s Wedding

Kristie and Joe got married on an absolutely beautiful Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago out in Perry, Ohio. When I arrived at Joe’s mom’s house to start the day, I told Joe that I was pretty sure this was the first time in 23 years that I’ve ever driven on route 2 east past Mentor Headlands! The area is pretty well suited for great photography, and aside for the onslaught of midges off of the lake, it worked perfectly for us. Kristie and Joe reside down in Houston, and even though we were meeting Joe for the first time on Saturday, it felt more like we’d been friends for years! Actually, once Joe started quoting Ron Burgandy, that’s when I knew we’d be getting along just fine. The ceremony and reception were held at Madison Country Club, which really did an exceptional job. Check out the previews:

Kristie and Joe opted for a First Glance, which we absolutely adore and fully endorse! It left plenty of time for awesome portraits prior to the ceremony, and made the whole afternoon go as smooth as butter…

Meghan & Steve’s Wedding

We spent the second half of our double header last weekend (that would be back on the 6th for anybody keeping track) with Meghan and Steven out in Painesville. These guys were actually the first couple we booked for the 2009 wedding season, and that was waaaay back in June of 2007! Way to be on top of the planning guys! Its pretty crazy to see how quickly the time has passed. Rachel and I really enjoyed shooting in the square near First Congregational Church for the first time as well, and the day unfolded without a hitch, just the way we like to roll. We knew from their engagement session last fall that Meghan and Steve were going to be great in front of the camera, and they definitely did not disappoint! Check out some images form the day:

The Wedding of Doug & Jennifer…

So we had another double header this past weekend starting with Doug and Jennifer on Friday.  What a way to kick off the weekend!  We knew from shooting their engagement session that Doug and Jen were going to be a joy to work with on wedding day.  They are so attentive to detail and trust us so completely that it puts Ted and I at absolute ease.  Besides that, it seems like we all have so much in common with each other!  Also, it doesn’t get much better than that weather we had!  All in all, it was a pretty spectacular day, and as I remarked to Doug at one point, it didn’t even feel like work!

Ted’s new toy is yielding some awesomeness!

Jen’s eyes just kill me!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen eyes like hers!

This was the quietest bridal room I ever shot in!  Jen has a amazingly sweet and quiet personality, and I felt like it carried over to all the other parts of the day…

Isn’t she gorgeous?  Doug’s a lucky guy!

Doug’s a pretty cool guy himself though.

Ted and Doug can talk all day, but they finally got down to business…

One of our favorite locations in Cleveland is the Botanical Gardens.  Doug and Jen had their locations nailed right away since this where the ceremony was held…

Family formals were amazing!  One of the many bonuses from doing formals outdoors is the amount of time that it takes to do them!  Taking out the time it takes to set up and tear down our studio lights gives us even more time to spend with the most important part of the day: you! Oh yeah - and they look way more gorgeous outdoors anyway!

One of the best parts of this day was the fact that Doug and Jen decided not to have a bridal party.  For all you bridal parties out there - you know we love you!  We just can’t hide our excitement over having a bride and groom all by ourselves for the whole creative time and it was a nice change of pace!  We started with the Gardens…

We love natural light!!!

After roaming around the gardens for awhile, we all piled into the limo and headed around University Circle.  So. Completely. Thrilled.  with this shot.

The reflection trend continues! Doug and Jen think that they need lots of direction in front of the camera, but they did this by themselves, so I think it’s all a front!  :)

Gotta shot some love for the bling!

Love this light!  I think I’ll keep Ted around if he keeps seeing shots like this:

One of the best things about being alone with bride and groom was the ability to just slow down and relax a little bit.  One thing we have learned over our career is that more people (almost always) equals more chaos.  This day was calm, relaxed, and sweet.  Just like Doug and Jen.

The only thing Jen asked me for the entire day was to include some birds into some of their images.  Since we almost killed a seagull at their engagement session by feeding it a chip, I thought it was only fair to include seagulls on wedding day also.  How could you not love this couple?  Jen pulls up her skirt, grabs Doug’s hand and they sprint towards this huge group of seagulls!

Winding down on our time together, we headed off to Windows on the River - one of our favorite reception halls!

The balcony in the City View room gives us the opportunity to grab some shots from above…

The party was hopping with the DJ Crew, and then we ended the night off with some of my favorite end of the night stuff ever!  :)  I say that every week I know…  Mine:

Ted’s:

I have absolutely fallen in love with the two of you and all of the amazing images we got from your wedding day!  We can’t wait to show you the rest!

Rasheed & Adrienne’s E-Session

We met up with Rasheed and Adrienne to shoot their engagement session on yet another beautiful Sunday afternoon last week near Wade Lagoon. When Adrienne called a few weeks back to book her session, she mentioned she’d been checking out recent engagement sessions on our blog, and said “that’s the style I’m looking for”! Both Rasheed and Adrienne are about the nicest people you could ever meet, and considering we were all meeting each other for the first time that afternoon, I think it felt more like we’d been friends for a lot longer! In addition to this, these two have an awesome chemistry with each other that made our job way too easy! Check out a few previews…

One of my favorites!

There’s a ton of cool spots around the Case Campus to shoot…

See what I mean?

One of our favorites spots to shoot when we are in the area…

The beautiful Adrienne…

Love this image of Rasheed…

One more in the dark…

Good luck with the rest of your planning guys!

Rachael & Matt’s Wedding

This past Saturday was one of the most beautiful days I have ever seen for a wedding.  And it wasn’t wasted on Rachael & Matt.  I just have to say that I am so in love with these two people as individuals and as a couple I can’t even explain it.  There was not a moment that Ted or I felt uncomfortable around either of them the entire day.  I don’t know how they found each other, but they are two of the most laid back and fun people I have ever met.  They are perfectly matched - the funny part is that they have the greatest height difference out of any couple we have ever shot!  I love it!

Now on to the real reason you’re here:

This is just the beginning of a series of getting ready shots that were possible because of the thousands (not really thousands, but it felt like it) of tiny buttons on the back of the dress.

You can always count on me to use every mirror in every room that I am ever in.

The bridesmaids were jokingly asking Rachael when she planned on leaving the reception (since she was going to change before she left) so they could make sure they were nowhere to be found when this dress needed to come off!

I honestly don’t think Rachael knows how beautiful she is.

Love LOVE this detail from Ted of the cuff links.

It usually doesn’t take much to convince me that the groom wasn’t stressed out in the morning, but if I did question it for Matt, here’s the image to prove it!

Another what we call “creative photojournalism” from my favorite photographer.  Love it.

Love this groom!  Fun fact: he does a pretty spot on Chewbacca impression!

Ted and I are fighting for PJ shot of the day.  Anyone want to weigh in on who won?  This is Ted’s:

This is mine:

I say he won, and he says I won.  I guess we can live with that!  :)

There was no shortage of adorable kids at this wedding!

St. Francis in Bay Village is one of the most unattractive looking churches for photographs when you first walk in.  What I love about it, is that our cameras see it better than our eyes do!  Got to love custom white balance!

No family formal speech again this week, but they were done outdoors and they were amazing.  :)  We did make short order of those cool pillars though!

First stop was Wade Lagoon at University Circle.  Popular location that day - we had to fight off three other bridal parties!  My favorite part of this location are the low hanging trees by the water.

Contrary to popular opinion, these kids were having a blast taking pictures!

I had to keep reminding myself not to mention Zoe the puggle (who was quite the star on our blog last year for their engagement session), since it was making Rachael sad to think of leaving her for their honeymoon.  Either way, they still rocked it out!

One of the best parts of this relationship is that Rachael and Matt are best friends first.  I don’t think, I KNOW they are going to have a great marriage!

My pink tree turned green!  I took it anyway, and I adore this image.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is put together so nicely for our photographs.  Someone must have had us in mind when they were building it!

Kiss chase was a bit one sided this time - I think it’s safe to safe that Matt won!  :)

Last stop was out at little Italy which is my new favorite place for awhile!

Reception details - subtle and classy…

First dance…

I remember seeing this moment clearly and thinking, “Those two are going to be great parents one day.”  There are sometimes you just know things.

One last sweet shot, from a pretty sweet day…

Have fun in Disney you guys!

Emily & Steve’s E-Session

When we first met up with Emily and Steve downtown Friday evening, we had blue skies, awesome evening light, and calm winds. About 40 minutes later, the clouds rolled in, and out of nowhere came a pretty nasty storm. Luckily we had just enough time to get some great images of these guys, and just barely avoided getting drenched (though we did almost got carried away by multiple swarms of Canadian Soldiers, eck). Sometimes photography can be a bit dangerous I suppose!

Thanks for a fun evening guys, even though the rain cut our time a bit short! We wish you all the best with the rest of your wedding planning! Check out a few previews…

It was honestly beautiful when we started!

Nice light…

What a great looking couple!

A sweet moment…

Kelly & Eddie’s E-Session

We’ve been trying to schedule in Kelly and Eddie’s engagement session for what seems like an eternity now, and because of rain/snow and crummy light, we’ve had about 3 tries with no luck! Finally, we got blessed with a gorgeous afternoon last Sunday, and we rocked it out! We met these guys at one of our bridal shows last March (wow, its crazy how the time slips away!) and they have been a real pleasure to work with ever since! We chose to do our session close to Berea, and we even managed to find a few new cool spots that we’ll be anxious to use in the future! Thanks again guys for trekking through the woods in order to get some cool shots! (and for not laughing to hard when my flip flop broke!). Here are some previews…

Wedding day is going to be a piece of cake with these guys! They rock the look!

Love this!

I think they may have been laughing at the older guy who decided to take a swim in Wallace Lake…

Cool spot…

My favorite…

One of the biggest reasons Rachel and I love shooting together is the different perspectives we can get at all of our sessions. We honestly can view the same exact scene very differently! Here is Rachel’s view…

Here’s my view…

See you guys in September!
